Studio Notes: Mucho Rock At QuailTop

The shows in upstate NY last month were a pretty great way to put a final cap on the Modern Love touring cycle. Buffalo, in particular, rocked us. But now it’s time to regroup. While Matt is secreted away writing heaps of new songs, I’ve returned to my home studio, QuailTop, to start some new projects and, perhaps most importantly, put the finishing touches on some records that got underway before the tour began.

The PKO album is moving toward completion but while I wait for The Divine PK to put the finishing touches on some of the more expansive orchestral arrangements I’ve put the pedal to the metal on the Fantastic Black record with Eric Skodis and Wes Styles. I’ve been shredding away all week (Rocked so hard yesterday that something blew up. Yeah! \m/) and more than half of the songs are now done. ¬†Should be just a few more sessions before we can hand it off to mix.¬†Exciting.

The biggest breakthrough of the week, though, was taking a chance on my trusty Fender Jaguar for some very heavy rhythm parts and finding that the jangly little beast dominated the tracks and really brought the whole rhythm part together. Go, you overly-adorned little mother!
